Muzzle brakes are fitted to the muzzle of a firearm to redirect propellant gases with the
effect of countering both recoil of the gun and/or unwanted rising of the barrel during
fire. Muzzle brakes are very useful for military, law enforcement, timed competition, and
other types of shooting and are most commonly used on larger caliber rifles.
